Ciarain Doherty Agri Business Development Manager in the Midlands & West attended Tuam mart on Tuesday evening. Ciarain had met with Tuam Mart Manager Marion Devane a couple of weeks earlier to discuss the UB Agri proposition that is being re launched at the end of October.
Weekly UB attendance
Marion was delighted to hear that UB were putting such time and effort into the Agri proposition and was fully supportive of the bank's plans going forward. To this end Marion invited Ciarain & UB to attend the mart on a weekly basis, beginning on Tuesday last, to enable farmers to have direct access to a bank representative that would hopefully be mutually beneficial going forward.
On Tuesday evening there was an excellent turnout from the Agri community for the weekly sheep sale, in no small way helped by the fabulous weather being enjoyed at present. Everyone in attendance was in top form and on the evening there was a great sale with 1950 out of 2000 animals being sold.
Hoggets ranged in price from €100 to a high of €170 a head, 40 kilo lambs made €85-90 with 52 kilo animals coming into €120. Activity was busy in all rings for the evening and the majority were happy with prices achieved for sales and purchases.
UB will be present for next weeks cattle sale which begins on Monday at 11 am and will have a presence for the coming weeks should anyone wish to avail of any financial advice or guidance. All in all an excellent evening and looking forward to being out and about in the coming weeks.
