Eight leading Connacht based businesses have been announced as winners at the Connacht final of the 2011 Ulster Bank Business Achievers Awards.
Companies were rigorously judged on a variety of merits including financial performance, company milestones and achievements, future strategy for the business and development of innovative products and services. The Connacht judging panel was made up of Sean Keenan, CEO and Founder of Multis Group, Brendan McDermott, Regional Director, Ulster Bank, Seamus Bree, Enterprise Ireland, and Grainne Lennon, InterTradeIreland.
Over 70 companies from the province entered the 2011 Ulster Bank Business Achievers Awards with over 25% of businesses entering the ‘Best Business Start-up Award’ category and 25% entering the ‘Service Business Award’ category.
**The Ulster Bank Business Achievers Awards provincial winners for Connacht are as follows:
- Innovation & Emerging Technology Award – Verus Precision Ltd, Sligo
- International Business Award – Atlantic Language Galway
- Social Entrepreneurship Award – Lets Do It Global, Galway
- Best Business Start-up Award – Cherry Blossom Bakery Ltd, Mayo
- Family Run Business Award – Evergreen HealthFoods Ltd, Galway
- Green Business Award – Cold Chon Ltd, Galway
- Agriculture, Food & Drink Award – Galway Bay Seafoods, Galway
- Service Business Award – Collins McNicholas Recruitment & HR Services, Galway
The awards, now in their 18th year, are in association with the Irish Independent, Enterprise Ireland and InterTradeIreland. Each Connacht winner will now go on to compete with provincial winners from Leinster, Ulster and Munster for the national title and individual category title at the all-island final in April.
Over 370 businesses from the island of Ireland entered this year’s awards, which aim to recognise and reward business success, regardless of business product, service, size, or sector.
The winner in each category will receive a specially commissioned award, local and national PR opportunities, entry into the national awards, and a dedicated profile page on the Ulster Bank Business Achievers Awards website.
The 2011 Ulster Bank Business Achiever will receive a comprehensive reward package including a publishing bursary with the Irish Independent, business mentoring, a full service communications workshop, as well as national and regional PR opportunities.
