Ulster Bank / IDA Meet Your Neighbours Networking Event – August 24th 2017

The Ulster Bank FDI Team co-hosted another very successful "Meet Your Neighbours" Networking Event last night, alongside the IDA Emerging Business Team. Over 130 people attended the event at Cliff Townhouse on St. Stephens Green, all representing FDI companies in Ireland.

First attendees arrived at 5pm, and attendance was at capacity and networking was in full swing by 6pm, over a few beers and canapés. Yvonne Kennedy (Ulster Bank, FDI) commenced proceedings on behalf of Ulster Bank and referenced the tremendous work the IDA does in supporting FDI companies in Ireland.

Barry O’Dowd (IDA Emerging Business Team) then hosted a Q & A session with 5 dynamic, global companies who have chosen to locate in Ireland. The panel was superb, speaking about their experience in Ireland and the world of "travel tech" - Noirin Hegarty (Lonely Planet), Lisa O'Carroll (FCM Travel), Lee Mohamed (Sojern), Darragh Kilmartin (Adara) and Ruairi Doyle (Press Reader).

Each panelist gave an honest account of their sector experience, noting the opportunities and challenges along the way. Topics covered included growth strategy, servicing Europe from Ireland, talent acquisition, technology and the housing crisis. This sharing of this information is so valuable to many of the companies in attendance last night. These 5 companies are on an upward global trajectory so it really was fantastic to have the opportunity to observe and learn from their experience.

The event was attended by many other high profile companies also, including Emergenetics, GoFundMe, Eventbrite, Intercom, Squarespace, Slack and Stripe.

The event came to a very happy ending for one Mayo man when he won 2 tickets to the Mayo V Kerry All Ireland Football Semi-Final replay on Saturday – well done Mark O’Donovan from RecommenderX!!

Ulster Bank and the IDA have collaborated on this event since 2014, which really has turned into a great success! It is a wonderful resource for FDI tech companies looking to widen their network!

The night was a great success and this is a testament to the tremendous work of the IDA Emerging Business team and their ongoing collaboration with the Ulster Bank FDI team.
