Two awesome events

Being one of the founders does have it perks. You get invited to lots of events. I have been very lucky in the last 24 hours and was at two event that were awesome.

Female propelllors

The first was the pleasure of watching the pitches of the female propellors at the Ryan academy. Absolutely the best pitches I have seen in a long time. All twelve of them. Gluten free bread byCathy’s spelt for health, business intelligence by CloudKPI, beans for the masses by Cool Bean Company, solving the ulcer problem for horses by Harmony Equine feeder, customised 3D design and printing by Fab All Things, a publishing platform for wedding suppliers by One Fab Day, female hygiene by Ready Girls, exercise through storytelling for kids by Sock Monster Media, tailored online exams by Test Reach, baby hire equipment by the Stork Exchange, exercise subscriptions for health professionals by Tickerfit and my absolute favourite, the  only snail farm in Ireland called Gealic Escargot.

They were all real, solid and compelling. And would give a lot of entrepreneurs pitching at some of the other accelerators a run for their money. We will keep you posted. If you want to help them out, let us know. They are all looking for mentors on areas such as scaling, international marketing, distribution, negotiation and finance.

One young world

This morning was another awesome event where One Young World was launched. In October this year the best and brightest young people in the world from all walks of life, will come to Dublin. The best way to get a picture is this video.

130 global media outlets (including BBC, Al Jazeera, CNN, CCTV, AP) were at last years event in Johannesburg and we can expect the same or more. Dublin competed for the event with Hong Kong and Edinburgh and won because of its vibrancy, the location itself and the 1000 welcome the committee received when they visited Dublin.

Which will be theme for the event. Making these young bright cool dudes and dudettes feel welcome when they come to Ireland. Because they will come back and it is another opportunity to put Ireland and Dublin on the map as city that constantly surprises.

As SBC we will put do our part to make this a success. If you want to get involved go to
