UKTI will be hosting an evening reception for all missionaries and a number of food & drink buyers, distributors, retailers and agents to network and do business. Following this there will be a 'Meet the Buyers' session hosted the next day for missionaries to meet key contacts in the Irish food & drink industry.

Ireland and UK

Ireland is the UK’s largest export market in food and drink. Two way trade (across all sectors) stands over EUR 1 billion per week.

All companies below are looking for retailers, distributors, partners and experts to help them export their brand and product to the Irish market.

Describe your business in one sentence. Moorish is a unique range of naturally-smoked, delicious humous and dip products.

How did you come up with the idea for your business? I cannot take the credit. My boss Julie launched the business 4 years ago following a successful attempt at making smoked humous for her fussy son, who enjoyed the flavour of smoked cheeses and salmon. After establishing that humous was a hugely popular and growing sector, and the recipe was universally enjoyed, she set about making it the success we know now.

Why do you want to go to Dublin and what do you hope to get out of the trip? We are looking for business expansion into Ireland, and the networking opportunities being provided are very exciting.

Bluebird Tea Co.

Describe your business in one sentence The UK's expert Tea Mixologists on a mission to spread happiness one cup at a time!

How did you come up with the idea for your business? Whilst working in the tea blending industry in North America, whilst my co-founder Mike was working as a ski instructor in the Rockies, we realised that no one in our tea loving home country was bringing a fun or innovative approach to tea. So we moved home to create Bluebird to serve that gap.

Why do you want to go to Dublin and what do you hope to get out of the trip? I already attended the GoGlobal New York trip which was fantastic not just for business but also in terms of making incredible contacts, meeting like minded peers and gaining an invaluable amount of knowledge from some of the top companies in the world.

Neema Food Ltd

Describe your business in one sentence. Neema Food is a food manufacturer which produces premium African food products such as chilli sauces and cooking sauces.

How did you come up with the idea for your business? For a long time, I was dissatisfied with the quality and taste of chilli and cooking sauces in supermarkets. I always made my own at home based on recipes from my mother which always go down well with friends and family. Since I couldn't find authentic African chilli and cooking sauces in supermarkets, I thought why not make my own and make it available to everyone? So I went to the British Library to research the sauces market and I was amazed to see that there was a gap in the market for African products and that it was a viable business to pursue.

Why do you want to go to Dublin and what do you hope to get out of the trip? As a small business, we are always looking to explore and test other overseas markets. Ireland being the largest UK export in food and drink and next door to England would be an ideal first step for a UK company. It is a good way to have a first taste in the exporting market.

How did you come up with the idea for your business? Our founders Robert and Daphne discovered Kombucha whilst travelling around South East Asia. On their return to the UK they discovered there was nothing like Kombucha on the shelves. They started selling on market stalls , and brewing in the bathtub. In the 3 years we have been trading we have moved away from the bathtub method into a factory.

Why do you want to go to Dublin and what do you hope to get out of the trip? I want to go to Dublin because I think it is important to understand the mind-set of buyers. Buyers from different parts of the world are all looking for different things be it healthy goods, the correct price etc. I think my job is to find out what they are looking for and make Equinox fit into that remit. In my opinion the best way to do that is to spend a bit of time with them and understand their needs, the markets needs, and discuss what steps I need to take to potentially launch Equinox Kombucha in that business, region or Country.

Naturelly Describe your business in one sentence. A fun & refreshing on the go and in-between meal treat for health conscious parents with active kids.

How did you come up with the idea for your business? It was also prounded overall winner of the World Bread Awards (gluten free) in October 2015 along with a stash of 8 medals from only 23 awarded. The kits will be available for retail in March 2016.

How did you come up with the idea for your business? After treatment for cancer my immune system took a nose-dive and I became intolerant or allergic to many everyday things. Gluten was one of those major things … I dreamt of a lovely lunch of French bread and cheese. After a few months with no bread or dry crumbly offerings, I decided I should use my science and nutrition expertise to create my own beautiful artisan bread that was gluten free. This was just for myself and my nutrition clients at first. After great feedback from them, I entered the World Bread Awards and won three medals. On the back of this I was awarded a place on the Grocery Accelerator programme and this year our company was overall winner of the World Bread Awards (gluten free) and also gained eight of the 23 medals that were awarded globally.

Why do you want to go to Dublin and what do you hope to get out of the trip? We believe we have an amazing and ground-breaking product, which we really want to share with everyone. We have learned (from Grocery Accelerator) of various companies in Ireland that would be perfect to stock our bread kits. We’d love to link up with some key retailers and maybe a distributor who can focus on our kits for the Irish market.

Our product is 100% pure and natural, incredibly healthy cranberry, blueberry and sea buckthorn berry powders from Finland. An easy way to add vital nutrients and essential vitamins to your diet.

How did you come up with the idea for your business? We have been best friends since we were little kids and grew up in Northern Finland surrounded by clean nature. We used to pick fresh berries from our backyard and then keep them in the freezer for eating all year round. On our travels we always missed the taste of wild, nutrition packed berries from back home and used to bring berry powders with us on each trip back to London. We found berry powders a convenient way to enjoy antioxidants and vitamins as part of a busy city life and thought surely some other people would love them just as much as we did?! With backgrounds in fashion marketing, freelance styling, sports therapy and massage we initially had no idea of the business world or food retailing. But we are hard working girls and once we set our minds on something we work towards it!

Why do you want to go to Dublin and what do you hope to get out of the trip? We want to meet new retailer partners and believe Ireland is be a good place to start exploring exporting properly. It is similar to the UK, close enough in terms of shipping arrangements and practical things such as labelling are easy as they can still be in English.

How did you come up with the idea for your business? As an art student I was constantly on the move around London visiting various shows and galleries. I found there was little in the range of snacks that delivered on taste as well as nutrition without being high in sugar and that there was an even bigger gap for something convenient when on-the-go. I set about trying to change this and so created the superseeds. The idea was to create something delicious and substantial that delivered on nutrition as well as practicality.

Why do you want to go to Dublin and what do you hope to get out of the trip?
