Top Ten Beginner Career Tips

Dear millennials, I’m one of you as well, and I really hope that I can make a change in your lives by telling you my story. Back in 2007, I was struggling to get a job in the marketing field. My education was complete, I had taken all the exams with the highest score, I even had a few internships at well-known companies, and I still couldn’t find a job that I truly enjoyed.

Choosing your career as early as possible it’s extremely efficient. In this way, you will have plenty of time to develop your skills and eventually become successful. After a few years of struggle, I finally got my dream job at a marketing company. But in the meantime, I learned a lot about how to manage and create relationships.

There are very few fields in which creating relationships isn’t necessary.  So if you’re focusing on a career that involves creating relationships with others, make sure you learn this skill.

In today’s article we will share with you 10 tips that might help you achieve a fruitful career:

1. Look at Your Career as a Sequence of Experiences

The most important thing when you are working on your career is gathering meaningful experiences. This is the only way in which you can learn and develop into a new human being, capable of great things.

The idea is that you need to be a lifelong learner in order to maintain a constant growth. By having multiple experiences in different working environments, your perspectives will become wider and you will experience powerful accomplishment feelings.

2. If You Are Not Passionate About A Certain Job. Don’t Settle For It!

Most millennials wish only to finish a college, get a degree, and get a well-paid job. That’s not really such a great idea if you stop and think about it for a second. Even if it would work for a while, if you are not passionate about your job, you will have a miserable life.

Keep in mind, companies wish for great workers, and someone who is doing the job only for the money will never be as good as someone who is doing with passion. So, keep searching until you find something that you would love doing all day long.

3. Make Your Presence be felt from the Beginning

When you found a job that you like, make sure to let everyone know that you’re an asset. How to do that? Start by learning as much as possible, get to know as many people as you can, and get involved in different projects. In this way, you may get the chance to prove yourself. If you manage to do this, you will become vital for your company and you will be one step closer to a successful career.

4. Take Risks

Whatever people tell you, keep in mind that not taking risks is a bigger risk than taking them. If we don’t get out of the comfort zone we will never get the chance of accomplishing something big. Whenever you take a risk, you learn something.

Therefore, even if you fail, you learned a lesson. In order to grow, you must take risks. In the today’s world, people that are taking risks are usually more successful. And that is for a good reason. If you wish for something, take action!

5.  Spend Your Time with People and Not Technology

This is a wide spread problem that most millennials tend to have. You must understand that true relationships are built face to face, not through social media. Whenever you are talking to someone look them in the eyes and ignore your phone. You can’t develop your social skills by not talking to people. Therefore, try to reduce the time you spend being addicted to technology. There is an entire world out there, do not miss it!

6.  Create a Unique CV

Most student’s resumes are almost identical; same fields, same everything. In order to draw attention, you should create a unique CV that really describes your unique features. You can write your CV alone or you can work with a writing service like Assignment masters. Involving professionals in the creation of your CV might be a really good idea.

Don’t use a standard outline for your CV, create your own. Companies wish to hire interesting and resourceful people. This is your chance of showing your future employer exactly who you are. You can even write about a meaningful experience that made you the person you are today.

7. Create Your Own Website

A perfect place where you can store all your accomplishments can be a website. It’s an easy way in which other people can see your work and a great presentation of your qualities. So, start a website under your full name.

While you are advancing in your career, make sure to add all your new achievements to your site. Slowly, your name will become a brand if you maintain a fruitful development. Think about your website as a living CV.

8. Make Sacrifices for a Better Tomorrow

In order to gain everything you wish, you must work hard today. Not tomorrow. This is the state of mind you must cultivate in order to become a success. While others party you must work hard. If you wish financial freedom, this is the only way in which you can attain it.

Try to see the bigger picture: if you work hard now, you will have the rest of your life to do anything you like. If not, you will struggle your entire life and you won’t get the chance to enjoy it.

9. Travel as Often as Possible

Experiencing the world is a great thing if you wish to grow personally and professionally. Traveling will help you expand your perceptions while granting you the opportunity to meet new and interesting people.

One of the perks of traveling is learning new languages. Most companies crave for employees that know foreign languages, so if you manage to learn one, you will become extremely valuable to your company.

10. Be Careful at What Mentors You Choose To Have

Most students feel lucky if they find a mentor. They do not stop thinking, even for a second, if that mentor is good enough for them. Choosing the right mentor is extremely important because that person will influence your life more than anybody else.

If for example you are working in the tech industry make sure to find a mentor that has achieved something of worth during his lifetime. If he would still be alive, Steve Jobs would be an incredible mentor for someone who wishes to have a tech career.

Now, your next step should be to take advantage of these advises and put them into practice. Your success depends entirely on you. No one can help you if you do not help yourself. Not even a mentor. Therefore, take life into your own hands and do something of worth with it.
