Having just handed in my notice on Friday with the determination to become the author of my own destiny and ultimate success, setting up my new translation business, I am now confronted with the empty space of this idea.

With very little funding, eyeing up the bank account by the minute! telling the kids that the offers are far better value than the deals, end of Friday pizzas and any other of the minor luxuries life once held, I now need The Disciplines to go forward.

The first discipline: The space I go to my sisters to get the "office". The "office" is her daughter's old studying desk, good and hardy, with one drawer and a filing area. The space will create the area, my work zone, my future, our future. Ideally, the space I believe, would be located away from family life. This is already a redundant idea, as the house is living room and 3 beds, with damp garage that even the cat avoids like the proverbial bubonic. Therefore, the living room MUST accommodate the space. It does, I made it.This is my new 9 to 5 or 9 to forever.

The Second discipline: Time I ensure I arise promptly at 8.30 to get ready to go to work, 10secs down the hallway from my bedroom. The exquisite luxury of avoiding the morning commute that "there is a God!" moment, evaporates lightly when I remember that it all depends on me, that this is it!, and am confronted with a purring computer and everything to create. There is a God, and it's me now!!

The Third Discipline: Determination Nothing must stop me now. I have taken the plunge, the risk.I must succeed. Each step is a goal achieved. Every piece of work I gain, is an achievement.Every success creates another goal, another level. The Disciplines are the key to Greatness.
