The Questions to Ask About Brexit

Brexit

With Brexit being kicked down the road for two years, does not mean you can be complacent. The Irish Export Association just published an article that Irish SMEs are even more dependent on UK export since Brexit was announced. More here

Around the time of UK's EU referendum in June 2016, just under a third of exporters said they sold a quarter of their produce into the UK market. That's now risen to 44pc of exporters. And 41pc say they plan to increase UK sales further in the next six months.

Go figure.

Securing the Interests of Irish Exporters
in the Mid-West

Ulster Bank with Rhenus Logistics Ireland, Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail and Fleet Transport are sponsoring the regional IEA's 2018 Supply Chain Series. The first one is organised in Limerick this Friday in the Strand hotel starting at 8:00, titled “Securing the Interests of Irish Exporters
in the Mid-West”. Brexit we expect will be part of that conversation.

Speakers

The speakers are:

  • Simon Barry, Chief Economist Republic of Ireland, Ulster Bank
  • Carol-Ann O’Keeffe, Assistant Principal Officer, Corporate Affairs & Customs Division, Revenue
  • Jane Dempsey, Assistant Principal, Brexit Unit, Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine
  • Declan Sinnott, Managing Director, Rhenus Logistics Ireland

Panel discussion

The event is chaired by Patrick Daly, IEA Supply Chain Series Chair & Managing Director, Alba Consulting Group. Part of the event will be a panel discussion with an opportunity to interact with the speakers.

The question to ask

The question I would ask is which other countries we should focus on for our export. For example Switzerland. Read more here.
