Previously self-employed? Need some new direction or inspiration?

The good news (finally) is that the recently launched Springboard programme is also open to those who were previously self-employed, whether in receipt of social welfare or (most likely) not.

The even better news is that the Innovation Academy at University College Dublin is now offering its exciting Post-Graduate Certificate in Innovation and Entrepreneurship as part of Springboard. A fundamentally different educational programme, the exam free Certificate enables ambitious and enthusiastic participants to transform their ideas into value in a multi-disciplinary environment. Based in Newman House on St Stephen's Green, participants interact with a broad range of project hosts, practitioners, industry leaders and entrepreneurs in a highly non-traditional learning environment.

The Certificate provides participants with sought-after skills in the areas of creative thinking, innovation, design thinking, network and team building, entrepreneurial thinking and action. The course has been designed to embrace fundamental aspects of innovation and entrepreneurship through high levels of active learning in an energetic, ambitious and supportive environment. Participants can draw on the Academy's iPad Learning Lab, Video Production Suite and LEGO Education Innovation Studio to enhance and support learning activities.

There is a strong emphasis on the development of viable and implementable economic and social entrepreneurship ventures and projects. In addition to the development of technical and transferable skills required for entrepreneurial activity, the Academy also offers practical supports to participants who have identified business ideas, which they wish to pursue further. In such cases the Academy can act as a start-up platform introducing participants to experts and mentors, potential investors and incubation centres.

You will also have access to an entrepreneur in residence, which through Smallbusinesscan will give you access to thousands of people that will be willing to help.
