Online Marketing in Galway (OMiG)

Since starting a small group in 2011 with a few individuals meeting up to discuss Online Marketing best practices such as new social media or email campaigns, digital marketing techniques etc; Online Marketing in Galway (OMiG) has grown at a steady pace over the last two years, from one volunteer to ten volunteers, a Facebook group with a few individuals to almost 1500 likes on a Facebook page, almost 500 followers in a LinkedIn Group and 1700 twitter followers.

The network has been supported by the Harbour Hotel, Galway from the very start. Every month the group meets up and opens the event to the public. The free event over the last two years has attracted an average of 70 people to each event. Some of the larger events have brought over 120 attendees and OMiG aims to continue these events with more additional activities over the next year, including workshops, seminars and webinars.

This year in addition to the Harbour Hotel, we are proud to announce that we have partnered with some of Galway’s greatest service providers and facilities to make a bigger and better locally focused network.

New Look

In the last few months, OMiG has worked with partners to improve our online and offline presence. As a not for profit network we rely on the volunteers and now as the activity within the network increases we need more meeting places and more expertise.  In the last few months OMiG are happy to announce our first physical address, at the Galway Technology Centre where OMiG have been using the hot desk spaces as needed and for team meetings.

In addition to that OMiG now have an official print partner thanks to Cantec Print and Design, who have worked with OMiG for their occasional print requirements, we are a network that discusses Online and Digital Marketing techniques but like every other business or network these days we need print to increase awareness i.e. business cards, pull up stands, posters and more.

Online Marketing in Galway - New LookOne of the more exciting developments these partnerships have offered is a brand new look for OMiG thanks to Proviz Design who have worked with OMiG and developed a brand new logo, designing a whole new logo suite. The guys at Proviz have been amazing and having their creative input for the new logo has been great, before this OMiG had a logo that was purchased Online, with the new logo we got the whole team of volunteers involved and feedback from regular attendees.

iON Connect a new Digital agency and IMS Marketing a Galway based Marketing agency where OMiGs Founder works full time has worked with OMiG to develop the strategy of the network and create a 5 year plan which is still under development. worked closely with OMiG to build on the strategic direction of Online Marketing in Galway.

OMiG newly developed site was designed by Block5Design and Designer Media, ongoing development on the site is now taken care of by CityWeb, CityWeb are currently working on a new platform for OMiGs users, making the GalwayMarketing site open to all and creating a space where everyone can contribute to the network and blog easily.

Getting Involved

Now with more support, more volunteers, supporters and partners OMiG is noticing a steady increase in attendees per month, visits to the website and more engagement on social media channels. The network has been nominated for two awards this year, best blog from The Blog Awards and The Web Awards. There is lot’s planned for the rest of 2013 and 2014 and we want to encourage more businesses and individuals to get involved.

Over the next few months there is some great guest speakers involved including; Hubspot, Micksgarage, iON Connect, Connaught Tribune (Galway Apps), Marketing Institute of Ireland, Failte Ireland and many more.

OMiG are pleased to announce Cosmin Gliga and Kevin Moran as our next guest speakers for the Online Marketing in Galway October Meet Up. Cosmin Gliga the Net Promoter Programme Manager at The City Bin Co. will start off the evening off with a presentation on "For Me It's Personal" he will cover aspects of: Online communication and surveys and Customer Satisfaction measurement. Kevin Moran the Managing Director at IMS Marketing will then go on the present How to Build your Brand Online.

As always the night will end with questions and answers and an open networking session, with tea and coffee.

Networking Event

The networking event is generously supported by IMS Marketing. The next meet up session will be held on Tuesday 29th October at 7pm in the Harbour Hotel, the event is free to attend however it is strongly recommended that you register your seat on
