Farming and Lifelong Learning

Never too old

You are never too old to learn something new. Education and new experiences allow farmers, managers and business owners to improve business performance and increase profit margins.

Take stock

As the evenings grow shorter, now is your opportunity to review performance for 2013 and take stock of possible improvements and business opportunities for 2014. Meeting with like minded individuals to benchmark performance and fuel ambition is always recommended for your business.

Benchmarking

Benchmarking allows strengths and opportunities for the farm to be identified while simultaneously recognising weaknesses and risks/threats going forward. Autumnal evenings provide ample opportunity for registering for an evening class, online course or seminar, all of which provide much food for thought. http://www.teagasc.ie/training/courses.asp

Agricultural Science Association

While attending the recent National Ploughing Championships in Co. Laois, I met with Eoin Lowry, Vice President of the Agricultural Science Association to discuss such educational opportunities for farmers and agricultural professionals. Here is the link to the ASA; http://asaireland.ie

Happy Learning!
