Cattle a Roaring Trade at Allams Christmas Fatstock Show and Sale

This week I attended the Allams Christmas Fatstock Show and Sale held at the Royal Ulster Agricultural Showgrounds Balmoral Showgrounds Belfast, where Limousin entries again took the top awards.

The show had an entry of 87 prime cattle and 37 top class calves and attracted buyers from across Ireland and GB.

The Surpeme Championship went to a Baby Limousin heifer owned and bred by James Alexander, Randalstown, Co Antrim, The 650kg heifer went on to make £5,000 when purchased by Barry Gallagher, Pettigo, Co Donegal.

The Housewife's Championship was also won by a Baby Limousin heifer owned by Robert Millar, Moneymore, Cookstown, which went on to fetch £4,400 when purchased by Farmview Meats, Castlereagh. The top price on the night went to a British Blue heifer calf from S & K Wilkinson, Benburb which fetched £6,000. However the night belonged to James Alexander who collected five trophies, Champion Simmental, Champion Limousin, Champion Angus, Best Opposite Sex and Supreme Champion.

The Ulster Bank Agri team of Cormac McKervey, David George, Martin Convery, Ann Calwell and myself were there to present the awards and to promote the new Ulster Bank Agri proposition. Full product information and our contact details can be found at
