Give us the background to your business 

My then business partner, Willie Maxwell and I set up SalesPlus in 2013, to provide an ambassadorial B2B sales service to SMEs. Having managed the InterTradeIreland Acumen programme for the previous 10 years, we had an in-depth knowledge of both the Irish and Northern Irish economies and the opportunities they presented. We work closely with clients of the Development Agencies including InterTradeIreland, the Local Enterprise Offices, Enterprise Ireland and InvestNI, who provide support, financial as well as soft supports, to their client companies.

Our clients are primarily Irish companies, north and south, who are brilliant at innovating, designing and manufacturing, but are often less enthusiastic about picking up the phone, making a cold call or exhibiting at a trade show. This is the bit that we are good at!

In 2018 Willie officially retired, although he still works with us as an Associate, bringing vast experience of business across the island.

My son Eamon joined SalesPlus at the start of 2019 and he heads up our FinancePlus division, which specialises in Banking proposals and advisory, Grant funding applications, Cashflow projections, Business valuations, Mergers & acquisitions, Company sales and Due diligence

We have also added a DigitalPR division, DigitalPR Plus, which is headed up by our Associate Gaye Moore, which can help our clients create or increase their online presence – which, in today’s world is key to promoting any product or service.

Gaye offers training to companies and clients on the most effective way to use selected digital platforms to increase brand awareness to a targeted audience.

Our team is rounded off with John Owens, Juliana MacEntee, Elisha McQuillan and Ann Rodgers Hampton who all have sectoral expertise and are totally client focused.

The best business tip you've ever received?

If you don't appreciate your customers, someone else will.

Any advice for other business owners?

You need to sell more than your customers need to buy! So always make it easy for them to buy from you.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Working with existing and new clients of SalesPlus, delivering value for them.
