5 Simple Ways To Ensure Happy Employees


If you own a business, your goal should be to make money (of course!). However, you should also strive for happy employees. After all happy employees make a happy company. Small business owners might not be able to do things on such a grand scale, but there are smaller and more affordable ways to lift your employees’ mood. Here are 5 simple ways to ensure happy employees:

1. Make Life Easier for Them

It’s easy to overlook the little things, but making efforts to ensure your staff’s comfort is essential. If you have employees who travel for work, booking them for an airport lounge will certainly ease them into the trip.

Allowing them flexibility over choosing work hours is another simple way to help them with work-life balance. Be the type of boss you wish you'd had!

2. Don’t Forget to Thank Them

No matter how high up you get, you shouldn’t forget to thank your employees. Keep an eye on your goals, and if you surpass them, take the time to thank your team for its hard work. It’s all too easy to get caught up in the business, and showing that personal touch will help your employees feel more valued (and happy).

3. Engage in Team Building

Team building isn’t difficult, there are lots of inexpensive ways to boost morale. Even a night out bowling and doing something fun together can help them feel more comfortable and confident around one another.

4. Celebrate Birthdays and Other Special Occasions

Celebrating birthdays is a simple way to let your employees know you care, and that you value their contributions. Employees are like everyone else—when they feel as if they’re valued, they’re more happy and productive.

5. Include and involve them

People are happier when they feel included and involved. When you're tackling some of your big goals, ask them for input on the how to and make sure you are clear on the "why". Often people feel unhappy if they don't understand why they are doing something, so a clear mission, clear values and clear pathway to the goals will help everyone feel included and happier all around.

The most successful businesses got that way because they made investments in their employees. Send them to seminars and conferences, encourage them to learn about your field, and don’t be shy about spending time and some money on them.
